My name is Grant Davidson and I want to share with you my story, and how I learned to legally stop paying child support.
I was ordered by the child support court to pay $560.00 a week, and my paycheck was immediately garnished. It was a ridiculous amount of money as it does not cost that much to raise a child. Why would a child need more to live on than a grown man? My ex was sitting her ass with her new boyfriend, neither of whom had jobs, living off money meant for my son. Money that a government vulture decided was a proper amount a parent should on there child. The court left me with $135 a week to live on. I survived on this pittance for a long time, but eventually ended up living in my car. My ex wife thought it was funny.
Because of my lack of housing I ended up losing my job and overnight visitation with my son. Now that I was unemployed I was no longer able to keep with my support payments.
My ex wife was quick to take me to court and bitch to the judge that I was a "deadbeat" dad. The judge did not care that the root of my problems were causes the high support payments. The only thing the judges ignorant mind cared about about was that I was not in compliance with his court ordered extortion. He sent me to jail that day and told me I would stay until my payments were up to date. The moron could not understand why a person sitting in jail could not make child support payments, in his ignorant mind it was a great mystery.
Being in jail was devastating, I felt that my life was over. I spent three and a half months in jail, it was a shocking experience. As a veteran ( 82nd airborne ) I was more adept at captivity then most of the fathers in jail. I saw fathers that never so much as had a speeding ticket, that were now sitting in a jail cell unable to cope. Some of these guys will never be the same. It is almost like the government is sucking the Testosterone from them. It shames me as an American that we have a debtors prison, that the dollar is worth more than a parents life.
My ex wife thought it was great I was sitting in jail. She told my son to start calling me "jail dad". It made her very happy she could do this to me. The court and the ex thought this experience would teach me to submit to there extortion. Thankfully it had the opposite effect, it put me in fight mode. At first I was planning to put a bullet in her head, have a beer, and call it a day by committing suicide. But that would have been hurtful to my son. So I started researching how I could legally avoid paying child support. Finding a legal solution, even if the method was unethical, was my only hope at living again.
